Gemini Live (talk to Gemini out loud, share your screen) and proactive suggestions based on what is on screen are also built in, both footnoted "18+". Google says Magic Pointer "only springs into action when summoned by a wiggle" and you can switch it off.

Every Googlebook includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, Google's $19.99-a-month plan with higher Gemini limits, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, and 5 TB of cloud storage. Two things to check before you buy. If you already pay for Google AI Pro, you do not get the year, since the offer is for new subscribers. And Ireland is on the device launch list but not on the offer's country list, so an Irish buyer should not count on the free year. Separately, the Googlebook offer terms say the AI Pro trial is for devices bought and activated "on or after October 1, 2026", while the Google One terms run the offer window from September 21, 2026. Devices do not reach shelves until October 4, but if you want the free year, activate the laptop on or after October 1.
Google also bundles 3 months of YouTube Premium (for people who have never had it), 12 months of GeForce NOW Fast Pass cloud gaming, and 3-month trials of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere, CapCut Pro and BandLab Pro. Most of these renew at full price if you leave a payment method on file.
What You Need From Your Phone
The phone features need an Android phone on Android 17 or later. Google's product page footnote reads "Setup required. Phone with Android 17 or above required." That covers three features:

Pre-order if you have an Android 17 phone, you were going to pay for Google AI Pro anyway, and you want a premium laptop around $1,000. The included AI Pro year alone is worth $239.88, which takes a real bite out of the price.
Wait if you rely on Windows or Mac desktop software that has no Android or web version, if your phone is an iPhone, or if you already pay for AI Pro and so would not get the free year.
